Matt Blunt Wants Healthier Children

Matt Blunt targets root causes of health problems: unhealthy life decisions:

The Healthy Missourians initiative includes family focused community activities that provide healthy nutrition and physical activities; help for schools and child-care facilities to help families at risk for obesity; providing training and resources to schools, child-care facilities, families, communities and employers; and supporting primary health-care facilities to address obesity in its early stages.

Whereas we at DMB2008 cannot unabashedly support this maneuver, we do note that he's spending tax money to promote education and whatnot instead of imposing draconian prohibitions of lifestyle choices--junk food, soda, McDonald's, and so on.

Perhaps an ounce of prevention is worth thirty pounds of Medicare and Medicaid spending on resultant health problems.
